Celebrate Earth Day 2026 in Takoma Park!

This April, Springsong Museum will join the City of Takoma Park and the Takoma Park–Silver Spring Co-op to celebrate Earth Month with a community-wide Earth Day event on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 10 am to 3 pm. The celebration will feature two activity nodes: one at Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park and one at the TPSS Co-op. The park festivities will include family-friendly activities such as face painting, nature-themed arts, clothes swap, tree care demonstrations, bike repairs, rides, and more. At the Co-op, attendees will enjoy music, food, and learning opportunities.

Springsong will have our “Museum in a Bag” on display including copies of Carson books, New Yorker magazines, and ecological materials from the Northwest Branch (mica - a mineral that gives Silver Spring its name, native leaves, pieces of petrified wood, shells, and more)! We hope to see you there!
