Springsong featured in Business Monthly

Springsong Museum was recently featured in the Business Monthly in an article highlighting plans to transform the historic Robert B. Morse Water Filtration Plant in Silver Spring into a museum dedicated to the life and work of Rachel Carson.

The article explores how Carson’s Maryland roots—including her years living in Silver Spring and her work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service—shaped her writing. It also highlights the important connection between Carson and nearby Patuxent Research Refuge, where scientists documented the effects of DDT on birds and wildlife—research that helped inform Silent Spring.

As Springsong Founder and Executive Director Rebecca Henson told the Business Monthly, Carson's work centered on the connections between living things and their environment. That idea is at the heart of Springsong, too.

We are building a museum that doesn't simply tell the story of Rachel Carson—it invites people to step outside, look around, and discover that her story is still unfolding in the landscape around us.
