Join Springsong Museum Founder & Executive Director Rebecca Henson and Duke University Visiting Scholar Joel I. Cohen for a discussion on the roles of writer Rachel Carson and artist Bob Hines in advent of the conservation movement in the 20th Century. For the first hour, enjoy light refreshments while viewing items from Springsong Museum's collection, like first edition books by Carson, and collectible stamps from Joel Cohen's collection and participating in a discussion by Henson and Cohen. After the presentation, folks can join the speakers on a hike at the future museum site, about a 5 minute drive from the library.

Joel I. Cohen is a Visiting Scholar at the Nicholas School for the Environment at Duke University, where he focuses on biodiversity in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park, its connections to agricultural practices, and conservation of diversity. His PhD is in plant breeding and genetics, and his career includes over 20 years in international research and support, working for the U.S. Government and international non-governmental organizations.
