Living Landscapes: Summer Sunday Hike

As summer settles in and the forest reaches full canopy, the Northwest Branch becomes a place of deep shade, vibrant greenery, and abundant wildlife. Join Springsong Museum for a seasonal exploration of summer along the trail:

Free with registration (limited to 20 participants)
🗓 Sunday June 14, 2026
🕤 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

On Sunday June 14, 2026, from 9:00am–11:00am, join us for a guided hike along the Copperhead Run Trail in Silver Spring, Maryland (meet at the trailhead located at 10701 Columbia Pike on the Trader Joe’s side of the road). This naturalist-paced walk explores the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River at the height of summer. Expect dense, cooling shade beneath towering trees, lush plant growth, buzzing insects, birds in full activity, and signs of wildlife along the river corridor.

Wear sturdy shoes—this scenic loop includes inclines and rocky scrambles near the end—and bring water to stay hydrated in the summer heat.
